Jean Marc Quarin in his opening vintage harvest chronicles noted, "...I would say that this vintage currently taking place looks like a 2005."

The Business Times (Singapore) stated that Bordeaux 2009 is set to be the first great vintage of the 21st century.

Decanter.com confirmed that winemakers are saying 2009 was set to be an ‘exceptional vintage’. Philippe Dhalluin of Chateau Mouton Rothschild said ‘it is not possible that this vintage will not be exceptional’.  Olivier Bernard of Domaine du Chevalier also told decanter.com that the grapes this year have been the best for 25 years.
